NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE VETERANS CEMETERY

Michael W. Horne was selected as Director of the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in October 2008. As Director, he is responsible for the operations and supervision of the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery (NH SVC) encompassing 104 acres in Boscawen, NH. He is responsible for interacting with senior legislators and leaders of state veterans’ organizations. He works directly with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on all matters concerning the cemetery.
Mr. Horne began his military career with the United State Air Force in 1975. He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1979. In 1980 he continued his military career by serving in the NH Air National Guard at Pease ANGB. In 1994 he was reassigned to the NH National Guard Headquarters in Concord, NH.
Mr. Horne retired from the military as a Colonel in 2008 with 32 years of military service. He is a member of various veterans’ organizations to include the American Legion, the National Guard Association of New Hampshire, the Air Force Association, the Reserve Officers’ Association and the Military Officers Association of America. He is also a member of the New Hampshire and New England Cemetery Association(s). He serves as an advisor to the New Hampshire State Veterans Advisory Committee.
He received a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from Norwich University, Northfield, VT in 1975. Mr. Horne and his wife, Christine, reside in Hooksett, NH. They have a son, a daughter, and two grandsons.
